Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 13, 2026

1. Overview

My Bowl (“we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by WileyWorx LLC, provides a bowling session logging app for iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

By using the App, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App. This Policy is intended to be transparent for App Store and Google Play users; it is not legal advice. Material changes should be reviewed by qualified counsel before public launch.

2. Information you provide

Account & profile: name, email address, city/region, board nicknames/aliases, and similar profile details you enter.

This version does not ask for or store an age range or gender, and we do not collect a date of birth. If a later version asks for an optional age range or gender, this Policy will say so before that version collects it.

Sign in with Apple / Google: if you choose those options, we receive an authentication token and basic account details the provider shares (such as a stable user id, and email/name when the provider supplies them). We use this to create or link your My Bowl account via our auth provider (Supabase). We do not receive your Apple or Google password.

Bowling data: venues, session dates, game scores, frames (if entered), scoreboard nicknames, friends you tag, and scores you optionally apply to friends from a scorecard photo.

Social features: friend connections, invite codes, join codes, and activity you choose to share with friends.

Communications: messages you send when sharing invites via your device share sheet (we do not receive SMS/email content unless you send it to us directly).

Support: information you include when contacting us (for example at privacy@mybowl.app).

3. Information from your device (permissions)

We request permissions only for features that need them. You can deny or later revoke permissions in system settings; some features will then be unavailable.

Location: When In Use location may be used to detect nearby bowling alleys and prefill venue information while you are using the App. We do not request Always / background location in this version. We do not sell your precise location.

Camera & photos: Used when you choose to photograph or select a scoreboard image so the App can help enter scores. Images are processed to extract score data; we do not use your photos for advertising.

Contacts: Used only if you grant access, to help you find friends already on My Bowl or invite people you know. Phone numbers and emails are hashed on this device; only those hashes are sent to match people who opted in to be findable. Your address book is not uploaded or stored. You can turn off discoverable-by-phone in Privacy settings.

Notifications: Used to deliver opt-in alerts (for example session prompts and occasional re-engagement reminders if you have not used the App for an extended period). You can disable notifications in system settings.

Identifiers: Device and app identifiers needed for sign-in, sync, notifications, and subscriptions. This version does not use an advertising identifier and does not send crash reports to a crash-reporting service.

4. Automatically collected information

We may collect app usage events (screens viewed, feature use), device type/OS version, and app version to operate, secure, and improve the App. This version does not collect crash reports or performance diagnostics for that purpose.

If a later release enables crash reporting, those reports may include crash stacks, app version, device/OS, and feature tags. We do not attach your name, email, or advertising identifier to those reports. A crash-reporting provider may see an IP address at ingest to deliver the report; it is not used for advertising or tracking.

If you purchase a subscription, Apple or Google processes payment. We receive subscription status and related entitlements (for example via RevenueCat), not your full payment card number.

Product analytics: this version uses PostHog to record product events such as install, signup, finishing setup, logging a first game, adding a friend, and upgrading to Pro, plus app version and device/OS. We do not send your name, email, phone, bowling scores, city, age range, gender, or date of birth to PostHog. These events are used to operate and improve the App, not for advertising profiles and not sold. PostHog processes this data under our contract with them. You can learn more in PostHog’s privacy documentation.

Push tokens: if you allow notifications, we may store a device push token (APNs / FCM) to deliver the alerts you enabled.

Alley lookup: with When In Use location (or a typed venue search), we may send a location or search query to a places/search provider (for example Google Places or our own alley index) to suggest bowling centers. We do not publish your live location to other bowlers.

Scoreboard photos: if you use photo entry, the image may be sent to our parse-scorecard function (which may use a cloud vision/OCR provider) solely to extract names and scores. Images are not used for advertising and are not added to a public photo feed.

5. Advertising (free tier)

The free version of My Bowl may show ads via Google AdMob (or a similar certified ad network) when advertising is enabled in a given release: (a) banner ads on main free screens; (b) a short rewarded video before opening score entry to log a game; and (c) interstitial ads after natural breaks such as finishing a session (“Done for today”). Early App Store versions may ship without in-app ads while advertising is certified; scoring still works without watching an ad.

Paid Pro subscribers receive an ad-free experience for the features covered by their subscription. Ads are not shown to Pro users.

When ads are enabled, advertising partners may collect or receive device advertising identifiers and related signals to serve and measure ads. On iOS, we request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission before tracking across apps/websites for personalized ads where required. If you deny tracking, we still may show non-personalized or contextual ads. In regions that require it, we use Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form before personalized ads. This 1.0 binary does not request ATT and does not initialize AdMob.

We do not place deceptive ads, fake system alerts, accidental-click layouts, or ads on top of the camera viewfinder during scoreboard capture. Rewarded ads for free score entry are presented with a clear choice (watch ad, go Pro, or cancel). Ad frequency is intended to comply with Apple App Store, Google Play, and AdMob policies.

For Google’s policies and controls, see Google’s advertising and privacy documentation. You may also reset or limit ad personalization in your device settings.

6. How we use information

Provide core features: logging sessions, alley detection, scorecard photo entry, friends, stats, and sync across your devices when signed in.

Personalize your experience (for example remembering board nicknames and suggesting friend matches on a scorecard).

Operate subscriptions, prevent fraud/abuse, and provide customer support.

Send optional notifications you enable.

Improve the App with aggregated analytics (for example whether someone finished setup or logged a first game). This version does not use crash diagnostics or demographic brackets for that.

Sync your account data to our cloud database (hosted by our infrastructure provider, currently Supabase/PostgreSQL) so your profile, sessions, and stats can be restored and analyzed to improve the product.

If you opt in in Profile (Tips & offers), send marketing and promotional communications (email and/or promo push) about My Bowl tips, offers, and related bowling promotions. You can change this anytime in Profile.

Build a promotions audience limited to users who opted in (for example city, opt-in status, games played, favorite venue). We do not put scoreboard photos into marketing systems.

Comply with law and enforce our Terms.

6A. Marketing consent (important)

Promotional emails and promotional push notifications are optional. Creating an account alone does not enroll you; you choose via “Tips & offers” in Profile (and may also see an optional unchecked tips choice during onboarding when offered).

Email promotions require a valid email address. Promo push uses the same tips preference unless you turn tips off in Profile.

You may opt out anytime in Profile (“Tips & offers”) or by contacting us. Transactional or service messages (for example account/security notices) are not marketing and may still be sent when needed.

This approach is intended to align with Apple App Store and Google Play expectations around user control, privacy disclosures, and optional promotional messaging. It is not legal advice; have counsel review before large marketing campaigns or if you expand into SMS/paid acquisition. Pre-checked optional tips boxes may not be appropriate in all jurisdictions (for example GDPR marketing consent often requires an unchecked affirmative opt-in).

7. Sharing of information

Service providers: hosting, authentication, databases (including Supabase), analytics, crash reporting, push delivery, OCR/ML processing (if cloud fallback is used), email delivery for opted-in marketing, and payment platforms (Apple/Google) that process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.

Advertising partners: as described in Section 5 for free users (in-app ads). In-app advertising is separate from optional My Bowl promotional emails/pushes.

Friends & social: information you choose to share (scores, venue names, activity) may be visible to friends you connect with.

Legal: if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users and the App.

Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer subject to this Policy or successor notice.

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not share your scoreboard photos for third-party marketing. We do not use ATT/tracking solely because you opted into My Bowl email promotions.

Service providers that may process data on our behalf include: Supabase (authentication and database), Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store, push, in-app purchases), Google (Sign in with Google, Play billing, optional Places lookup, optional AdMob when ads are enabled), RevenueCat (subscription status), PostHog (product analytics when enabled), Sentry or a similar crash reporter (when enabled), email/push delivery vendors, and cloud OCR/vision for optional scoreboard parsing. Each is used only as needed for the features described in this Policy.

App Store Connect “App Privacy” / nutrition labels and Google Play Data safety answers are intended to match this Policy and the binary we submit. If a release ships without ads or without a crash SDK, those store forms will say so even though this Policy still describes how those features work when they are turned on.

8. Data retention

We retain account, bowling, and social data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service.

If you delete your account in the App (Profile → Delete account), we hard-delete your profile, owned sessions and games, friends list on this account, and linked sign-in (Apple / Google). This is not a soft flag.

Shared live sessions: your row on other users’ sessions is unclaimed (display name kept). Other users’ scores are not deleted or changed. Store subscriptions remain under Apple or Google until you cancel them there.

Backups may persist for a limited time before full deletion propagates. We may retain information required for legal, security, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes.

9. Your choices & rights

Permissions: control Location, Camera, Photos, Contacts, Notifications, and Tracking in your device settings.

Export: Profile → Export my data. Download JSON (complete archive) or CSV (spreadsheet) of your sessions, games, frame data, stats, and friends list. Scoreboard photos are not stored on our servers; export does not include camera-roll images.

Account deletion: Profile → Delete account (in-app, Apple 5.1.1(v)). Web instructions for Google Play Data safety and anyone who cannot open the app: https://mybowl.app/delete-account. You will be offered an export first and must confirm that deletion is permanent. We hard-delete your account and personal bowling data; shared session lines revert to unclaimed names. Email privacy@mybowl.app from your account address with subject “Delete my My Bowl account” if you cannot use the in-app flow.

Marketing: choose tips & offers on signup or toggle “Tips & offers” in Profile. Opt out anytime. Transactional notices related to your account or purchases may still be sent by us or by Apple/Google.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, or object to certain processing. Use in-app export/delete, or contact us at privacy@mybowl.app. We may need to verify your identity.

10. Children

My Bowl is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

This version does not ask for a date of birth or an age range, and signup does not include an age check. Terms still require that you be at least 13.

The App is not intended to be “directed to children” under COPPA and is not designed for Google Play’s Designed for Families program. Store age ratings will reflect social features, user-generated nicknames/scores, and (when enabled) advertising.

11. Security & international transfers

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) between the App and our servers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

If you use the App from outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws.

11A. User-generated content

Friends, invite/join codes, board nicknames, tagged scores, and similar content are created by users. That content may be visible to people you connect with. Do not post others’ personal data without a basis to do so. To report abuse, harassment, or unlawful content, email support@mybowl.app with the username, join/invite code, and a short description. We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these rules.

11B. Health, sports, and advertising identifiers

Bowling scores and session stats are recreational sports records, not medical, diagnostic, or health-research data. We do not use them to infer health conditions.

This 1.0 App Store / Play review binary does not initialize AdMob and does not request iOS App Tracking Transparency. When ads are later enabled, advertising identifiers and related signals may be used as described in Section 5, and we will update App Privacy / Play Data safety to match that binary.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy in the App and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in-app or by other reasonable means. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy where permitted by law.
